Ever wonder why it takes a long time for the Airlines personnel to check you in?
Have you experienced denied boarding? Or have you checked your ticket if that is your correct Full Name?

A lot of Passengers were being denied boarding because of incorrect spelling of their names.
Your itinerary is also another reason for disruption at some point.

When purchasing tickets, make sure to check your Full Name, Itinerary and other information as it might
Spell doom on your travel. Most Airlines will not accept miss spelled names, most especially when bought from another Carrier. One of the reasons for this is that the issuing Airline may not honor the ticket that they release to the Passenger when the receiving Carrier bills them. At the end of the day it is you who will be the victim. Suffering from a delayed travel and destroying especial moments with your loved ones. One sad instance that happened is when a Passenger wants to attend the wedding of their Daughter, but was denied boarding until the ticket is corrected. You will be lucky if the releasing Carrier’s reservations office is open, if not, it will be a sad situation for you.

It is now summer time in most Asian Countries, so next time when you book your flight, be it by airline mileage program or through travel agencies or using other airlines ticket, Make sure that you read your flight information. You will always be at the end of the bargain if you failed to check your ticket properly. One best way is to bring your passport or a copy of your passport when making reservations and check them before leaving the office, that way it can be corrected immediately.

Enjoy your Summer Vacation!!!

Saipan Air come on down!! We are ready for you!!

Just imagine how long the line is! Shown here is our counter for Sichuan Airlines up to the TSA checkpoint. We just finished processing our passengers, but still have two Delta Airlines Flights being processed. TSA officers who are manning the checkpoint is very commendable here as all flights were departed on schedule.

Whew, Look at all those bags, LOL !!!! Did you notice passengers still waiting in line to be processed? Shown from our counter, baggage(s) piled up all the way up to Delta Airline’s counter.

Ever heard about the Cabotage word?

Not to be confused with sabotage.
Airline cabotage is the carriage of air traffic that originates and terminates within the boundaries of a given country by an air carrier of another country. Rights to such traffic are usually entirely denied or severely restricted. Under 49 U.S.C. section 40109(g), we may authorize a foreign air carrier to carry commercial traffic between U.S. points (i.e., cabotage traffic) under limited circumstances. Specifically, we must find that the authority is required in the public interest; that because of an emergency created by unusual circumstances not arising in the normal course of business the traffic cannot be accommodated by U.S. carriers holding certificates under 49 U.S.C. section 41102; that all possible efforts have been made to place the traffic on U.S. carriers; and that the transportation is necessary to avoid undue hardship to the traffic involved (an additional required finding, concerning emergency transportation during labor disputes, is not relevant here). (Borrowed from USDOT)

Cabotage means that Person(s) may not travel to the United States of America on the same day if the routing is from US to another country and connects to US on the same day when travelling on a non- US carrier. For example Oz606 from Saipan (US) to Incheon (KR) then OZ202 to Los Angeles (US) on the same day is not allowed, it should be OZ606 from Saipan to Incheon then a US Carrier to Los Angeles.
1)	OZ606/20dec/OZ202/20dec – SPN/ICN/LAX (wrong routing)
2)	OZ606/20dec/SQ202/20dec – SPN/ICN/LAX (wrong routing)
3)	OZ606/20dec/UA123/20dec – SPN/ICN/LAX (correct routing)
So unless you are an airline employee and flying with on a sublo ticket, think twice before taking this routing, you woud’nt want your holidays to be disrupted……

This July, POI Aviation will celebrate its 20th year of operation at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport. POI Aviation is the longest operating ground handling company in Saipan, providing a full range of services to air carriers operating flights to the CNMI. POI Aviation is also the only ground handling company on Saipan that is ISO 9001:2008 Certified, having first been certified in 2001.

Front: Dominador Borja, Ramon Aquino. Mercy Aguon, Giordino Lino, Larry Aspuria

Amazingly, ten employees (pictured above) will also celebrate 20 year anniversaries with the company. Having been present for the launch of POI back in 1991, these individuals have helped ensure each of our airline customers received first-rate service and a wealth of experience to draw upon. All of the “Golden Service” members had previous airline experience before helping to establish POI as the premier service provider on Saipan.

Larry Aspuria, the maintenance manager, has worked in the airline industry for over 55 years. “Everybody had prior airline experience so there was a lot of comraderie when we started, even though it was a new company and nobody knew each other before that,” Aspuria said. “Everybody understood their jobs. The airline business is like a roller coaster with a lot of ups and downs over the years but we survived, not because we were lucky. We survived because we have dedication and loyalty among our staff. That has helped us.”

Still, there were opportunities to learn some new things, remembers Leo Duenas. “When we started out, we had a lot of specialized employees that had always worked in one or two positions in their departments. One of the first things I tried to do when we started out was to get employees to learn all of the jobs in their department, so everyone could help each other out when we needed it. It wasn’t easy at first. Some people were suddenly outside of their comfort zone and it probably took 6 months until everyone had really learned all of their department’s different jobs. In the end, we had a much more flexible group of people that could handle anything.” That flexibility has become ingrained in the company philosophy as workers constantly rotate duties on a regular basis.

Another distinct advantage for POI has been the consistency of leadership from having General Manager Frank Camacho at the helm since the company’s inception. “The airport, and the airport administration, has changed a lot over the years. Each time the airport administrator changed, it had an effect on the airport operators. And there have been a lot of different airlines that came and went since we started,” Camacho said. Twenty years ago, POI Aviation started out as a challenger in the field. Since then they’ve moved into the position of the largest and most experience ground handling company on the island. It’s taken years of hard work and dedication to service to achieve that goal. However much markets may change, those guiding principles will help ensure POI Aviation is here to stay.
